So many times we want to be able to see into the future. We say, “How will my next year be for me? Where will I be in five or ten years from now?” There are no answers to these questions. Mostly we have just enough information to see only the next step: what we have to do in the coming hour or just the next day.
“Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea– the LORD on high is mighty.”
The art of effective living is to enjoy what we can see and not complain about what remains over the horizon. When we are able to take the next step with trust that we will have enough light for the step that follows, we can walk with joy in the moment. I just returned from the beach and as I waded through waist deep water, I would jump as each wave came past me. (the water was freezing, and I did not want cold water slapping my bald head!) That is how life is sometimes. Learning how to rejoice in jumping one wave at a time will keep us on track to the destiny God has for us.
So, keep jumping with joy today.
