I hate AND love TV reruns. I feel it’s a waste of time, AND so much fun. A rerun simply shows you the exact same thing you have seen before. It’s a waste to see the same thing over and over. I always love to see the new season opener in a series because I love to see how they reinvent the characters in a fresh way.

Many of us need reinvented lives. We are living a rerun; we need fresh servant opportunities, we need fresh stories. Maybe you feel like your life is a sitcom waiting to be cancelled, an endless rerun with worn out story lines and superficial characters. It’s true that you don’t get to say anything about the beginning of your life’s journey, but you have a great deal to say about the destination and how your journey shapes you.

Never allow the context of your life to justify your underachievement.

David, the future king of Israel, is now a sandwich delivery boy. And that should reveal to us that sometimes the greatest act of courage is the willingness to do something small with greatness. This was King Saul’s problem. He was important, anointed in the beginning, but he allowed the enemy to seduce him into a “rerun” lifestyle. Saul mistakenly thought that he could do the king’s business while neglecting the King.
