Stories are the most primitive and purest form of communication. A good story transcends all boundaries and cultures. A story evokes emotion, and emotion creates connection.
Maybe you desire to create a better life-story this year? Yes, Jesus does give us that ability and power.
Everyone has a passion for something, but sometimes we have trouble saying exactly what it is. It is easy to lose touch with our true passions-sometimes because we get distracted with everyday living; sometimes simply because in the usual stream of routine or the normal, no one ever asks us about our dreams. That is why it is so important that you first find a way to articulate your passion to yourself.
When you discover what your passion is, you will have found your life’s story as well.
Here are a few questions to help you move toward living out your passions this year:
*If you did not have to worry about money, what would you do with your time?
*What kind of task would you want to invest in and develop?
*What cause would you serve?
These are especially important to consider if you are working to reinvent your life. Once you answer these questions, you’ll have a good idea of where your passions lie. Then, talk your story everywhere and anywhere that someone will listen. Let the passions come out of your soul into words. People always will take notice when your story is becoming larger than you, your product, or service.
Your story should change lives for the better. Think about it. Twenty years from this very moment you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the ropes and sail away from the safe harbor. This is the year to catch fresh trade winds in your sails. The windows of heaven are open to you when you invest in God’s dream for your life (Mal. 3:10) So invest!
Also, if you are looking to being this year, I want to invite you to the Proclaimer’s Retreat in Memphis March 1-3. It is for those who are wanting to write a better story for their lives. It’s a first step and it’s a great way to invest in networking with others who may share like passions.
